Royal Highness Kush
This grow will be using Royal Highness Kush seeds from Humboldt Seed Co,in a 2x4 tent under two or three 120w LED lights. I will adjust the lights as the plants mature, usually 240-300w performs best. The media is coco, pots are 3# fabric and the nutrients are Jacks Hydro. Everything is set up as in my previous grows.
This should be a fun grow as the seeds are a strain bred for outdoors rather than indoors. I had these seeds from some time ago and did not plan to grow them indoors, but they should do well. Size may be a challenge and the warm humid conditions of my tent may stress them, lets see. They are regular photos so there will be extra steps.
The first batch of seeds were started Nov 4. I want two females, so i started 5 seeds. That usually more than safe. But this time, only two seeds germinated. Thats unusual for this breeder in my experience but the seeds were stored in poor conditions for some time.
So i started 5 more, same darn bad results 2/5. Then i started 4 more, just in case, to try to get another good seed. Of course, all four sprouted lol 😝 Now i have eight, so there will certainly be a couple good females.
now they are about two to three weeks old and getting ready to transplant.
we are off to a rocky start but everythings growing. I topped the younger ones. These plants show little interest in branching out. The lights had been pretty dim, upped to 45k lux, so there should be good growth this week
They got a little shock after transplant and topping, but growth looks good now. I had the lights dimmed too much, waiting for the younger plants to be ready. Its full light now. I am trying to sex them in half gallon pots but they really show the strain with such small roots.
Next time i will use one gal as i have done in the past, it does not seem worthwhile to use the smaller containers.
The first big plant looks to be showing the start of a male flower, i expect it to show clearly in the next day or two.
This is a difficult grow. About a week after the last post, it got pretty cold for a little while then too hot. One of my plants went into shock and died. I have never had a plant get wilt and die in a week. It stopped taking up any water from the roots and dies faster than if i had stopped watering completely. I suspect pythium but i dont know if it is, and i dont know how this one caught it.
It seemed to be expressing male so no great loss, here is it a week after the above pic.
I transplanted the two most likely females (one is still iffy) and the other two two look like male flowers are forming so i have not transplanted. They all are growing slowly, and had some shock from the cold, but seem ok now.
top pic is females, transplanted
bottom pic are both males i think. Still not clearly developed.
