Photo & Video Equipment

Photography is a wonderful way to help record your harvest. These products are not required, but they are fun and allow you to show off your grow. We recommend the best webcams for grow tents and several accessories that could help you upgrade your grow tent into a photo/video studio.

Remote Camera

Do you want to be able to look in on your plants while you are away? There is a pretty cheap way to do that!

Cell Phone Security Camera

This is so cool! I have one and am still surprised that they are not much more expensive! It is a small security camera that links to your cell phone. You can open the app on your phone and look in on your plants anytime and anywhere! You can pan the camera left, right, up, and down by swiping your finger on the phone screen. It compensates well for the bright grow room lights, and it even offers night vision to see the plants during the dark cycle. Dr. Photon assures us that the infrared night vision will not affect the plants' flowering cycle.

USB Webcam

I use a webcam inside my tent for monitoring my plants and for taking pictures to create time-lapse GIFs. I admit that I sometimes just sit and watch my plants on my computer.

I have tried many different webcam models, and this one is the best that I have found at producing quality images under grow light conditions.

If you want to hook up your webcam, which is inside the tent, to your computer, which is outside of it, then you may need one of these.

Camera Mounts

If you want to install a webcam in your tent, there are two cool products to consider. I use them both!

Small-Rig Mount

For making time-lapses, I use this Small-Rig Mount. It is the perfect thing to hold your webcam, and it is not expensive at all. It will grab any support bar in your tent and lock into position. The arm swivels at two joints and tightens with a single knob. You can angle your camera in any direction from practically any point inside the tent and lock it in place throughout the grow.

Flexible Long Arm Mount

If you prefer to adjust the camera during the grow in order to keep a close eye on your plants, then this flexible mount is an excellent idea! You can use it to manipulate the camera into any position and move from close ups to whole tent shots by re-positioning the arm. I use this mount to set the camera into position in order to see plants respond to supercropping, or any time a plant looks like she needs attention!

Trichome Pictures

USB Microscope

Dr. Photon uses and recommends this digital USB microscope. I purchased it and have started using it to photograph my trichomes! It displays images on a computer screen, and you can save the images to share or for easy comparison as plants progress.

Smart Phone Compatible Microscope

If you want to be able to use your phone to inspect and take pictures of your trichomes, then you may need to upgrade to this model. It is compatible with most major phones.

DSLR Camera

Most of the photography on Cocoforcannabis.com is shot with this camera. It is an excellent all around DSLR.

Microphone

I am putting this here because I was asked. It is not a piece of equipment that most growers will need!

This is the microphone that I use to record the videos and podcasts on Coco for Cannabis. It really is a great microphone, but you don't need it to grow cannabis!

About Our Product Recommendations

At Coco for Cannabis, our mission is to help growers maximize the success of their cannabis crops by providing scientifically accurate information and sharing proven growing practices.

The products that we recommend are the actual products that we chose to purchase and use ourselves. In a few cases, we recommend products that we would buy if we needed them. We do not accept advertising and will not recommend any product that we would not buy for ourselves. We offer this guide as a resource to growers.

We may receive a referral when you purchase products through this page. This is the main revenue stream that keeps Coco for Cannabis up and running! When you click through our links and make purchases you are supporting our work! As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Whether we receive a referral does not influence our recommendations. For example, when products are cheaper to buy locally, we’ll tell you that rather than just recommend a more expensive online option.
