Since I had just popped a Mephisto 3 BOG, I figured I that would add a journal for it. Seed was germinated and rooted in a mammoth p starting plug, then put in a net cup lid and hydroton. I am running the full Canna Aqua lineup, with Mammoth P and Mammoth Si and cal mag. Everything is in a 4x4 tent with a Photobio 340W led and side lighting added as needed. I recently replaced 5 mismatched spider farmer and viparspecta lights with one more economical fixture with a better coverage area so my light management has become much easier but I am pulling fewer watts so it will be interesting to see how it plays out. This is my second NYGC and I am committed to proving that my skills have improved over the last year.
I have been struggling with ph, and the poor girl is showing it. I finally just mixed a new bucket and started out at 5.8 again. I had taken a break from hydro and forgot to leave more of an air gap, so she was drowning and the ph kept rising to 6.5
Well, she is taking off but seems stunted. I have had nothing but bad luck with this specific pack of seeds. All the issues were my fault but I really want to try this strain. I’m hoping she surprises me when I hit her with fresh nutes tomorrow.
Moved her closer to the lights and started bumping up the ec to 1.2 ph 5.8. She almost seems like she is starting to speed up.
She finally started taking off and flowering. Still spindly but she is starting to eat more. I switched to flowering nutes and she took off. I’m feeding pretty low at 1.2 ec. I tried bumping it up a bit and the ph was bouncing all over. Canna is usually pretty stable for me so I backed off. Should still be able to get a harvest
I was out of town for 12 days and managed to have a buddy top off the buckets about halfway through. I got home to almost empty buckets but they made it. The 3BOG actually started bulking up. I had to give her a major trim job and I flushed the roots with some slf1000 and uc roots just to rinse off any dried salts etc. Currently running full on flower nutes at 1.5 EC and I plan on just letting it go and evaluate later this week. It smells crazy, I get odors I can’t even place.
So out of the blue I decided to change careers and have been busting my ass the last few weeks so I’ve been doing everything but focusing on growing. Luckily the ladies are strong. The 3BOG is stinking to high heaven and falling all over itself. I had to go in and clean out a bunch of larf just to get some better airflow. Ever since she started bulking the rez has been staying stable and I’m just topping off with water about 4 days in to the week. Can’t wait to taste this plant
