PTGC Toppers: Dessert Seeds - Trial Run

So the weather roller coaster continues. Let's throw some rain in the mix for fun. I found a protected spot on the porch that still affords a little sunlight. The little bit of rain they did receive appears to have been enough to wash off any residual BT between sprayings and a worm found its way in and so on and so on. Well. I caught the little bugger but the damage was done. Doused everything with Lost Coast and will re apply Monterey BT to fend off the worms. We are supposed to get slammed this week with a ferocious weather pattern with high winds and rain. Could get interesting.

Little stinkers. They sure do smell for such little plants. The structure and growth rate on these plants are all over the place. A couple have foxtailing buds which seems to be common among my auto flowers this year. At first I thought it might be the genetics but it has happened now on 4 different seed sources. Lack of light? Not likely the case on the early season run. And too much light is not likely on these late season plants so I think I need to look for answers elsewhere. None of my photoperiod plants had issues in the same location in the garden. Looking at the plants of the same strain side by side they are all so different.

Things are plodding along. Off and on rain keeps me busy moving plants into the alcove. They don't seem to be very hungry lately but I feed anyway. I have been mixing a 3:1 dilution and haven't checked the EC. My bro is also running some of these seeds and admits that he has been neglecting them also. His plants look a bit more developed than mine. I should have pulled out the runt but my wife thinks its cute. It looks like the worm damaged plant that was topped has begun 2 tops. None of the plants have much of a stem to speak of and most have a single cola structure. A couple have some nice branching. They are a bit of a giggle after the large harvest off the photo period plants grown outdoors. But it is always nice to have a variety of strains on hand

Merry Xmas to all. This seems as good a time as any to end this little experiment. Although conditions weren't great, I was still able to harvest something so the nomination for best comeback was not too far off. Thanks, Crack Babies, for the vote of confidence. However, there is little to celebrate over this harvest. As the photos will reveal, the plants never reached their potential. As the weather got colder the plants did not respond well. Actually, they should have had another month to grow but that was just not going to happen. Despite my feable efforts to protect them from the ravages of nature, 2 plants were beyond saving due to bug, worm, and mold issues. Straight to the circular file. The other 6 of 8 didn't fair much better. In total I would guess they collectively produced less than an ounce of the poorest quality buds I have ever seen. I will share in the blame for the poor performance overall, but I don't believe I will waste my time with these seeds again. I'm glad they were cheap. The ROI is just not there for the amount of effort and resources expended. On to bigger (hopefully) and better (not difficult) things. BTW, those are the whole plant pictured next to the scissors.

I hope to be able to join the fun in the NYGC next year but timing will be tight. Travel obligations are likely to throw a wrench in the works. Until next time, Happy Growing
