NYGC Misfit: Gorilla Glue Auto(Fastbuds)
I have a lot of photos to upload. I have been busy with both work and grow. What I am doing is running my own RDWC design inside my new Gorilla Grow Tent. They are 3x 5 gallon insulated buckets. I found a pvc manifold that is the core of the return system. They are some sort of jacuzzi part. I live in an apartment so I'm not sure. I have a 15 gallon reservoir that resides outside of the tent. The reservoir and water chiller are between my little vivosun and the new Gorilla tent. What a difference, lol. I had to make a little room in the supply closet by taking a wire shelf out and nothing goes to waste around here. It is now suspended by rubber bungees which will help to quite down the air pump. I have been playing around with layout as I put things together. Need less to say, this project is taking some time but I think it will be pretty unique when it is up and running.
I forgot to mention the Honeywell fan. I separated the case and cut a hole in a bucket lid. I then reassembled the fan with the lid between the fan casing pieces, securing everything with the screws the fan came with. It makes a nice drop in circulation fan for the top of the tent.
I did some work on the reservoir tonight. I also made an extraction bucket of sorts. It's just a small pump attached to a bucket lid with a garden hose. I'll be using it for res swaps and vacumming up waste from the coco tent. I'm playing with the idea of possibly using it to feed my other tent with. I like the idea of a wand on a hose that I can reach to the back.
We had a set back at the begining of the week. My roommate and I switched rooms. My wife was crafting in our bedroom that shares the wall with my tents. She ended up flipping the breaker and we learned the 2 rooms were on the same circuit. My roommate was kind enough to swap when I learned his room had it's own breaker. His room also faced a different side of the building which is more private, which allows the possibility of a window unit at some point. The old room faced the main parking lot and I didn't want to draw unwanted attention to our place. The catch was he flew home to see family and attend a wedding that weekend. With his permission, I swapped rooms by myself. I knew I couldn't put water in the system to test before moving rooms. I also did not want to wait 2 weeks to move.
Once I got everything moved, I started reinforcing a few joints with some nylon rope and covered it all with grafting tape. The tent is super stout now. I love it. It was nice to go back and redo the set up. Everything is clean and better than before. The ac infinity came in and was installed yesterday. I took my time to run the wires to where the was no light leaks and no extra holes in the tent. I installed the gauge on the zipper cover using a home made bracket. The gauge is now in a similar location of one on my other tent.
Today I finished to reservoir by installing the digital ph/ec/temp sensor and gauge set.
Amazon popped up a little camera on a lighting deal this past weekend so no I will have a timelapse recording of this grow. I may be a bit of a geek when it comes to gadgets. I have alexa controlling things for me based on switchbot thermometer/hydrometer readings in my little tent. I have things like the water pump, lights, air pump, and fans automated so I can react quickly incase of emergency. I will be able drain the system using the pumps, and while making sure the water makes it all in the bucket, I can have Alexa turn the pump onto off for me while my hands are in use. It may seem silly but I think itll all be cheaper in the end. I can have my environmental systems pretty much automated to react based on conditions without individual sensors for each one. With the addition of the camera, alexa will alert me when the door is opened.
So the rdwc system didn't get figured out in time. I was close with the flow between the two pumps but not soon enough. I decided to have a veg and flower tent instead of 2 different mediums. Things are now simplified to just a tray and a few fans. I have tried a few versions of this system over the past few months and I'm ready to start growing. I'm tired of tinkering. So we returned what we could and packed up the rest. Who knows... I may try again later in life. For now, these will be grown in coco.
I started these 3 with the paper towel method and plan on using rapid rooters to sprout in their 1st small containers. For now, I am using the warmth of the light to heat my modified folgers can between a couple of 12 inch saucers.
I am very disappointed to not have the rdwc figured out but I am ready to start worrying about other things in life. I have had a few small runs with promix while I have been working on this dwc set up. I have come to dislike using the promix and am looking forward to getting into coco. So even though this is not the set up I have been working towards, it will still be a new medium to grow in for me.
So one of the beans is coming in vigorously. If the 3 were racing, this one has definitely taken the hole shot. It is already in a rapid rooter where the other two have just cracked their shell. The picture of the seeds was about 6 hours before the transplant. The one with the tail almost doubled in size in that time. I was caught off guard and transferred it to a rapid rooter before updating the pictures.
Side note* How do I keep my photos from turning to the side when I upload them to my post? *
