Two weeks ago I was positive I wouldn't be growing again until Spring, due to frosty weather and a large garage costing $$$ to heat . In that time i have converted my living space completely into a grow area containing my 4x4 tent. It is cramped, it is daunting, but I couldn't be happier with the outcome & I am filled with excitement to be able to grow with all of you.
This is my second time growing, & my second time growing with everyone here, but will be my first time participating in one of the sites events. I am giddy thinking about growing this Black Rubble, it is a cross of Barney Rubble & Blackberry Kush coming from "Jordan of the Island" of whom I purchased the Black Candyland seeds and grew to some success . The plan is pop 6-8 of these seeds just to get a good start and possibly flower some cuttings to get ahead of the sexing game a little bit.
I also wanted to step up my game a bit for this one, however much I could with a rather small budget. I opted to upgrade to the Apera PH20 & while I have only calibrated the one time (already more than I calibrated my cheap one :p ) , it has been a treat to have around and I very much look forward to using it.
The last big purchase for this run was the nutrients. I run the CFC Schedule & am committed to doing so. This led to a purchase of the Flora Trio as well as CaliMagic in 1 Gal bottles. I needed the cal-mag for buffering, & I don't like to stress over running out of nutrients. Hoping it arrives before the first transplant is necessary.
I look forward to growing with all of you, I'm typically hanging around the chatroom to try & help where I can. <3
P.S.
Sorry I was ghost for a while. Medical problems suck, check on your loved ones.
Nutrients arrived a week early, should give me plenty of time to recycle my coco and get a healthy re-buffer going. (Provided I can fight the procrastination 😉 )
The biggest update is the addition of 5 gallon air pots, & starting the trek towards auto fertigatons.
A little over 7 hours left until germination, & can't think of a better way to start the new decade than growing with all of you.
😎 🌻
Happy Decade Everyone! 😎 🌻
Had a great time seeing everyone in chat last night & the love i've been getting on this journal is insane, you guys are insane. 🤯 ❤️
We dunked 7 seeds at the ball drop, & thanks to happy seeds & a new germination article, we woke up to cracked seeds just 12 hours later!
I took A LOT of photos of the seeds throughout the following 14 hours, tracking their growth, probably disturbing them a bit too much but hey, that's why there's 7... right? 😬
It's now 1am here, 27 hours since drop. The seeds are moved to their jiffy homes, lights are on & I would say that overall it was a pretty great way to start to the new Decade. 👍
Grower Love =)
Today is Day 3 & we woke up to a few lovely sprouts & a few helmet heads still playing hide & seek.
Really happy with how things are going here, I'm enjoying these little ones company.
It's good to be back.
😎 🌻
No more hard heads left in the bunch, 3 in particular were really struggling with the membrane from the inside of the shell. 2 of them were removed without issue but the 3rd basically fell out of the jiffy even trying to give it a hand, very short tail and not a very happy looking baby. I replanted with a larger cavity in the jiffy, not sure if it's going to live but I'm holding out hope.
Otherwise pretty happy with their growth.
😎 🌻
These things do not want to slow down, i was getting a bit concerned over the stretch so I had been lowering the light over the course of the day, & proceeded to get ready for transplant.
But they weren't satisfied! And i came back to rather lanky plants.
I've now more than doubled the power on the light & they already seem happier for it.
As far as the straggler, it lives! Or so it seems. Cotyledons are beginning to open after some careful surgery.... lot's of that needed on these little guys. I can tell that they are going to be quite an interesting bunch.
I have opted to leave them in the jiffies for now. Hoping to see plenty of lateral growth by morning.....
😎 🌻
Good Morning!
Not much of an update but stretching seems to be slowing and leaves are really starting to get going.
Photos taken 10 hours after the last post.
Might still need a few toothpicks 😶
😎 🌻
Took a few days off, I don't want to drown the journal out with seedling pics so I'll start grouping them together more.
I hope all of you are having the luck I am. Definitely a few odd ones in this bunch but wow a couple of them are just off to the races.
Right now 5 of them have been moved to solo cups, today is going to be their first double fertigation. The other 2 stragglers had quite the battle, but if life won't live, make it. 1 seems to be picking up pace and the other is..... odd. Small, like a micro plant, yellow cotyledons. I wonder what she's hiding?
Started CalMag Foliar on all of them.
😎 🌻
Started 2x daily fertigations. Switched 24/0 to 18/6.
Might transplant the 2 runts today if I'm not too lazy.
😎 🌻
Nothing much to talk about but I hope everyone is doing well. I'm enjoying the uneventful & the boring.
No news is good news.
- Pushed their feed to full strength seedling blend (1050ec).
- 3x ferigations began today.
- For everyone keeping up, yes, I did finally transplant the runtz 😝
Feeling pretty good about them but I could definitely be doing better.

Think I'm going to go right into final pots with these. Transplanting as soon as my coco is finished buffering.
Here's some photos in the mean time.
😎 🌻
Sorry for the lack of updates, Yzma poisoned my food. Gardening isn't so easy when you're a llama.
I took my 4 best plants & transplanted them into their final pots, the other 3 are spending their last days together. I feel bad for not watering them, but they have to go. I would prefer 4 females come flip time but I'll save my sanity & pray for 2.
I'm having a rough time keeping climate in check, no controllers paired with nothing to be controlled. Plants growth seems to have slowed significantly. While it was a bit expected after the large pot jump, as of now I'm leaning towards climate as the main factor
Topped the 2 largest, others will need a while yet.

Down But Not Out
No real room in the budget right now for more seeds, decided to try a method of pre-sexing regular seeds passed along from another member in chat . Not expecting much but should be fun to see if there's any weight to it.
I carefully chose 3 "female" seeds to replace the fallen. A single Black Rubble & 2 Black Garlic.
Seeds were scuffed & dunked at 7:45pm MT, Jan 31.
