Goals for this Journal
-Clone from my Candy Shop (Kre8 Genetics) mother (Cookie Jar X Oogie Boogie) four (4) plants and veg until and around the October 1st flip date.
-Top the plant down to it's third node once.
-Train with the Atlas Plant Trainer
-Veg out a 5x5 canopy
-Keep a daily paper journal on Veg day 1 once the clones have rooted and are inserted into the veg tray from the cloner.
-Start 2 Durban Poison Fem seeds (Grower's Choice) on Aug 10. Prepare this for the party cup transfer once rooted and veg until flip date.
Let's get started!
I built a 15 site aero cloner last night using a plastic buckets, some 1/2" pvc, a 265 gallon water fountain pump, some emitters from amazon, a 2" hole saw, net pots, and neoprene collars. Because the rooted clone will sit in hydroton, I decided to remove the net pot bottom so the roots will not be difficult to separate from the net pot structure.
I ended up cutting 10 clones. There are 15 sites, but I will cut another plant should I need any more. There is 5 gallons of water inside the cloner, and here is what when into the solution:
10ml Rapid Start
5ml Armor Si
35ml Hygrozyme
Ph down
Cuts were immediately placed into Clonex Gel and later inserted in between the neoprene collars. My cuts went through and in between a select node at an angle and some of the lower stem "shaved". Most fan leaves were trimmed off and the the tips of the remaining leaves trimmed.
The environment RH was set to 70%. Temps apx 75F, but at this time I have not had the chance to monitor and adjust this. My spare lamp. a 100w Phlizon "blurple" will serve as the lamp for these clones on 24/0. The aero cloner also runs 24/0.
-------------
Last night on 04*10*2020 I dropped 3 Durban poison seeds, 1 has sprouted so far. More details on this in another post focusing the training cup.
Behold - the Party Cup seeds are sprouted. 2/3. Giving number 3 a bit longer and if she survives, I will look to make a mom.
Rockwool is washed in 600 ec of mountain aquafer water (110ppm) + some Flora Nova Grow + Rapid Start + Lime juice for ph down. Because I find the holes in rockwool too big, I have stuffed the holes with a bit of hemp rope before applying the seeds.
The Atlas Plant Trainer - its time to make some considerations!
I would like to share with you the media that I will be using for the Dutch Buckets this grow challenge: Diatomite! These are diatoms in rock form. You may be familiar with them already in their pulverized form, Diatamatious Earth or DE.
Everything is coming together!
I’m not expecting roots until day 10+. Only 1 plant seems to be unhappy and I expect her not to make it. I have no idea why, but that’s why I took so many cuts: chop 10 to keep 4. Mom has recovered nicely, and she’s resting with the other future projects (9#Hammer by Jinx Proof, Twirkle by TheMaddFarmer).
Have a great weekend!
We have our first roots from our cloner! A big thank you to @Ocgrower76 for guiding me in my first clone process. I've done a lot of different cannabis things in my life, but this was the first DIY cloner I've made and honestly, I couldn't be happier.
Behold! The Party Cup Challenge Entry!!!
For the veg phase, the Fem Durban Poison will be fed from the ebb and flow veg tray I use for other activities. The veg solution is 1.7ec, 5.8ph. It has mycorrhiza fed by a product called Chum. The full GH line. Terpinator. Hygrozyme. RAW Yucca. Yum.
Cuttings overall don't look great, but we've got 4 shooting roots and 4 is what I was looking for, so we have success! Next run I'm installing an auto mist system since I'm not home enough to foliar spray adequately. Stay tuned! Hopefully, we can start vegging by the end of day 21, no later than September 1st!
General shot of the veg room. Plants here are for various projects, not just the #PTGC.
Clone update. I've got enough roots that I will be moving the rooted into the veg room today. I'll start a few more clones just for the heck of it and to trim down my mom a bit. Will probably give them away. Going for a full month of veg!
Just a little update regarding the start of September:
Clones are out of the cloner and into the general veg room. They've had 3 days of veg nutes so far - there is continued root growth but is absent of new veg growth. The clones have 30 days to figure veg out 😉 From what I read, a lot of cloner gardeners like to "clone, veg two weeks, and flip." Given that, I feel fairly optimistic about "clone, veg 30 days, and flip."
Party cup plant continues to kill it in its humble abode. The Durban Poison plant has shown positive growth given its constraints. Tomorrow, I plan to give the plant a lid to help blackout the grow light rays.... stay tuned.
The clones are in veg, I was able to pull out a good number of clones with roots. The rest I tossed into the composter. They are seriously hungry! New growth has started to emerge. Don't count on much of the old leaf matter to root. Again, this is my first clone run, 27 days to regroup and take off!
Of the 10 cuttings, I kept 8. Of the 8, I potted the best 4. Party Cup is in the basket of the middle bucket and has it's own feed line.
Currently on 24/7 fertigation, but I may drop that back after they have time to adjust to the new environment.
Currently only in a late veg nute 1 part Flora Nova and hydrogen peroxide 34% 2.5ml/gal.
Next week, the heavy cocktail will begin.
Everyone got the top-chop today, even the party cup. 👍🍁😇
I accidentally forgot to turn the fert pump back on today so they’ve been without fluid for about 10hrs. Only one plant looks unhappy from it, I’ll post a pic in the morning to see how she’s recovering.
Just a few notes while we enter the last few days of veg.
I'm nowhere near filling the canopy. Chances are I'll veg into a week in October. The party cup still is containing all the roots. I think we had some NER and PH issues this week, I've been working mad hours. 2 of the plants on photo-right were pretty small, so I've replaced them with Twirkle by MADDFARMER.
late veg nutes installed.
