In a thick Maine accent:
The background on Fog Cutter is that I received some mystery seeds as a gift from Wicked Pissah (now defunct. Sorry folks). They had a product called Cherry Fog that they crossed to a lot of things. Without more info, I called the seeds Fog Cutter as an homage. I think it was the SAFC last year that I grew that out and pollinated it with another auto from a totally different line.
I’m just having fun with this. I’ll probably tuck it in with a vegetative project, either in a 2x4 or a 3x3, but it’s only going to get 2’x2’ at the most.
Fog Yeah, let’s foggin do this!
I put it under an HLG 260. I fogging stepped on her as far as fertigation is concerned. LET’S FOGGING GO!
I’m going to do my best to bring the temperature up in the tent today. It’s at 65f and I’d like to see it at 75f.
I made it happen on 4/30 and I pulled everything out of the tent, lifted up the drain table another 16”, and now the oil-filled heater fits underneath the drain system with plenty of airspace to protect the roots (hopefully). The temperature is at 74f so I’m fogging happy as a clam.
I’m pretty sure the EC of my solution is a bit high for this tiny plant… unfortunately it shares a reservoir with seedlings that are about a week older, and they’re thriving.
I can feel the fog rolling in like high tide. The cuttah is about tah staht puttin ahn leafs.
I ahded nematodes tah tha resavoir becas ah these foggin gnats.
4th node has distinct leaves. I was thinking about pruning from the 4th node up, but there aren’t any axial limbs visible to the naked eye yet. I’m entertaining bending the main stem over to change apical dominance. Undecided.
I’m keeping a lookout for roots popping out of the container. I haven’t determined what container I’m going to step up to.
Finally seeing axial limbs sprouting from the 2nd node up. I cajiggered the fertigation line because it might have been causing weak rooting. The plant leaned over pretty hard at the soil line this morning.
After a little LST the plant flopped over
I’m sorta concerned about the root zone.
It keeps popping back up though.
I transferred from a 3.5”x3.5”x4” container to a 5”x5”x7”. The roots were unimpressive.
I had two choices, bury shallow or bury deep. If I buried shallow, maybe the roots would quickly fill out the container as they grow down. But I buried deep in order to support the plant. It should root from the nodes and everywhere else that’s in the coir. I also moved it to a different tent and took it off high frequency fertigation for now.
I pruned the Fog Cutter pretty heavily. I removed the top 3 nodes, and all axial limbs bellow the remaining two.
The fog seems to be disappearing. I put the plant through a lot in a 24hr period. It’ll probably bounce back, but I’m unimpressed.
