Brick Coco - Dr. coco buffer method 70/30 perlite
Last handful of days have been environmentally stable. My main focus is to keep my VPD balanced. I’m now running 1350ppm - 2.2 EC.
After topping on day 19, I went ahead and topped the more vigorous plant again. I also bend and twist. The result is thicker stinger stems to hold up big healthy buds. I have been giving the smaller girl time and space to just grow, no training - she’s been a slow grower from the beginning.
Trellis was added today trying to stay ahead of a full 2x4 ScrOG. I have a tent height of 5’ and have a strain that tends to grow tall. I need to keep my canopy low and spread out.
Today I went a little to hard at n my stem twisting chiropractic training and broke through the stem. Luckily I was able to make a stint and wrap it in tape (see photo). This happened this morning and I have gone too far before and if it’s not dead yet we should be in good shape.
Environment continues to be stable. (77/62) 0.9-1.1 VPD being the priority using (pulsegrow.com - VPD chart) It differentiates optimal range for seedling/clone, vegetative, and flowering stages.
SLH runt has started to show more vigorous growth and felt it was ready for a topping. I have not topped because I felt like it was struggling to keep up. She was ready.
As of a few days ago I changed the light cycle from 18/6 to 16/8. I’ll move it to 14/10 by a week from now. I also went ahead and defoliated. Running 1400-1600 ppm 2.3-2.8 EC. They don’t seem to mind it but I don’t get crazy with it. Always feeding scaling up and down 5.6-5.8 PH. 2x - 3x a day fertigation.
Still short @ 8 in. from the coco surface. They can grow another 4 inches before I flip to flower, but SLH stretches. So we’ll see. I will flip to 14/10 next week following transferring to 5 gallon fabric pot.
Here I was trying to capture how the trellis served to help me open the canopy while still in veg.
Transferred to their 5 gallon fabric flowering pot. The roots were absolutely root bound. I sprinkled a generous dusting over the transfer void in the new pot and directly onto the bound root system of Great White mycorrhiza. For the coming week I will be introducing W1 flower by switching the light cycle from 16/8 to 14/10, then 12/12.
I flipped the girls and it’s been almost a week. I have not seen any telling signs of pistils but am noticing stretching. I had to replace the humidifier with the dehumidifier. And am focusing my VPD to the proper optimal for flowering range @ 1.2-1.5 (77F/50RH). Light distance is @ 18” @ 100% = 850 PPFD
Today I’m starting the 2nd weeI flower. I did some super cropping to help try thicken up bud sites. My PH pen has malfunctioned and am waiting for a new one arrives in 2 days. I am hyper vigilant about checking the PH , so this is very difficult as a new grower. I’ve been using the dye and water sample method so it’s not out of control.
ENV:
75-77F/50-55RH (VPD 1.2-1.5)
1150PPM 1.6 1.8EC
6.0-6.3 PH
18” canopy @ 100% = 700-800 PPFD
After super-cropping and defoliating the plants have recovered recovered spaced by a couple days in between for recovery. I still feel like I took off quite a bit but they responded quickly. Something went right.
Photos are over course of couple days. Post super-cropping then defoliation into first sign of pistils.
Environment:
- 77F /50% RH average
- VPD @ 1.4
- 12/12 : 18” @ 100% = 850 PPFD (based on charts)
- previous (1050 ppm) now (1500 ppm)
- Fox Farm hydro nutes + recharge + orca liquid mycorrhiza
- 1.8 - 2.1 EC
- Fertigate 2x day
