The BG has very nice lanky limbs and can be trained easily. The GG on the other hand, her limbs short and stout. It’s tricky to pull the limbs down to get the out of the way of one another. Growers pain.

Wow! The BG is really growing well. The limbs on the GG are not lengthening and it’s harder to train as a result. The leaves on the GG are growing well. They are getting in each other’s way. She no longer has eight nodes. I cut the inner nodes to allow the leaves on the outer ones to have space. I thought that maybe I would top the outer nodes of the GG again if their limbs lengthen. Well will see on that. I also thought about up potting the GG; thinking that she may want more space for root growth,

as her roots are bursting through the fabric pot. I don’t really want to do too much with them. I had planned to  grow these seeds and train them in a one gallon pot for the grow challenge. My real grow was going to come from clones from each so that I could have a full tent since I only had one seed of each. I know that I can take clones from the BG. We’ll have to see with the GG. If not, my full tent grow may be of clones from the BG only.

Well, I’m ready flip to flower. I think I will flip a week from Sunday 10/9. I’m giving my potential clones a little more time to grow out. I’ll take my clone Friday 10/14; a couple of days before flip. The clones will come from the BG only. She is growing rather well.

This is day 1 of flower. I change my 3-2-1 ratio of GH nutes to a 1-1-1 ratio and added phosphorus; I do a transition week into flower before full blooming nutes. I also began reducing the calmag. The nitrogen in the feeding regiment needs to be reduced, while the phosphorus is increased as you transition into flower. Phosphorus aides in the development of the buds. After the stretch phase, I will exchange my phosphorus supplement for potassium, which helps to fatten up the fruits. Alright Lionel Richie, “Guess I’m on my way”.

I finally took some clones of each plant to see if I can get 2 from each to sprout roots to have a full(4x4) tent grow in 5 or 7 gal. pots. I was able to take six of the BG. Then after a little stretching from flipping to flower, I was able to take 3 very short ones from the GG. The BG clones are 2 day older and they are doing fine. Much growers love and thanks for the support.

I’m starting to get a some nice canopies on these girls. They’re stretching nicely too. They are getting full bloom feeds from this point on. I’ve brought down the temp and rh to meet the bloom cycle. Until next update, keep it green and lean.

Clones have rooted and have been transplanted. I hope to have them ready for final potting in about 6 weeks when my grow challenge has been completed. I did not keep the GG clones. I had never grown a full tent of just one strain before. I kept promising myself that I would one day. But here I was again with two different strains. It’s not hard to do of course, but there will most likely always be differences; as in the case of these two growing currently. So, I just made up my mind that I will start that with these clones from the BG.

She is doing some nice praying. The GG is so beautiful as well, though so much shorter.

To all the strains that grew in my tent,

To all the ones that came and went,

I’m glad you came along,

You all have grown so strong,

To all the strains that grew in my tent

It’s the middle of week 3 of flower and the BG is starting to bloom.

On the other hand, the GG is not showing any signs of bloom thus far; but I’m sure she will get there.

There is a major difference in the stretching of the two as well. Nevertheless, it’s time for a final full defoliation. At this point, the nodes have basically stated their intentions on whether they will become good buds verses larf. So I will hew the larf and trim around the plant to allow the prospective buds to receive the light that they need to complete their budding cycle. I have stop feeding the nitrogen portion of the GH three part series in my attempt to lower the plants nitrogen uptake. The girls are still receiving nitrogen from other sources: micro, cal-mag, and my phosphorus supplement(NPK Industries RAW elements). As stated before, the phosphorus will be exchanged for potassium after week 4, which contains no nitrogen. I will also reduce the cal-mag again at that time; skimming back the nitrogen even further. I added kelp to the feeding yesterday in prep for the defoliation. Kelp is usually part of bloom booster formulas that some growers feed at this stage of bloom. So the kelp is both aiding the plants against the shock of defoliation, as well as the blooming and development of the buds themselves. “Growers Love”. Keep’em green growmies.

The ladies seem happy after their major defoliation. They are perky and praying up to the light.

Also, the clones are starting to show growth as well. It won’t be long before they are transplanted.

This is the beginning of week 4 for ladies and they are doing well. The GG has started to show bloom finally, while the BG is in full bloom. I’ve started the process of weaning the girls off of the phosphorus supplement and onto the potassium. I’m now feeding 1/2 of the phosphorus and replaced the other 1/2 with a 1/4 of potassium. Stay green.

At the start of week 6, not much is happening. At this point, I’m just waiting on the outcome. Stay green growmies.

It’s the start of week 7. I realized that half of my light had been out for more than a week. It came unplugged. We will keep it moving.

I need to transplant the clones into their 5 gal. pot so I can began training them. They have all been topped to create their mainlines and now need to be tied down. I’ll have to keep them in this smaller tent; and I’m not sure if I will be able to put the humidifier in there with the larger pots to keep the rh where I want it. I will see. Stay green.

The Black Gorillas have been transplanted into their 5 gal. pots. I’m really a big fan of the mainline technique. It really allows me to have greater control over plant training and defoliation. It has become my go to growing method. The mainline grow method is about the uniform distribution of nutrients to each node. You are tying to create 8+ main colas, through symmetrical toppings, to allow for even nutrient distribution. Along with this evenness of growth, you should be able to control the shape of your canopy better. This allows you the ability to establish consistent light distance, without constant adjustment.

Cannabis Grow 026E2B96 75F6 4845 BA15 B9D82F293DBD

These BG clones are not good candidates for this method. Their limbs grow so long and lanky before producing a node. The nodes grow in a staggering pattern on their respective limbs; as limbs branch one from another before yielding the twin node of the one before it. I may have to bend the nodes back towards the center of the pot, instead of training out around the rim.

I’m not sure if nodal balance can be achieved; nor uniform nodal feeding. I shall see. Stay green my friends. Happy Turkey Day!

This is the middle of week 8 and the BG is about ready to be hewn down in a day or two. On the other hand, the Gorilla Glue seems to be about 3 weeks behind. From today on, I’m going to feed only ph-ed water to the BG until chop. I’m also going to up the feed of the GG; including adding phosphorus back into her feeding. She looks about week 4 or 5 of flower. I guess I will see the results soon. Stay green growmies.
