Hey all! This is my first grow journal. I've learned a ton here, and am ready to try something new. I know I'm a little late getting started, but was told I could still get in on this. I'm going to attempt to grow 4 plants in solo cups and mainline them. I just finished developing an automated system for drain to waste gardening, and am going to employ it to do all the irrigation for me. I'm thinking about fertigating every 1.5-2 hours or so depending on the stage of growth. I've never done a solo cup grow, so we'll see how it goes. I have a small tent, which is one of the reasons to go in solo cups. I have my tent all ready, and I just started soaking my seeds today! I'll probably water by hand for the first week, and then let the "Fertigation Manager" do the rest.
Hey all! I made a little mistake right at the beginning. I had 2 buckets of coco/pearlite mix.....one was buffered and rinsed, the other was not. I used the wrong one 🙁 About 3 days after germination I saw some major burning on the leaves. Once I realized what I had done, I starter watering with a very light solution of RO water with 2 ml cal-mag and 2 ml fox farm grow per gallon. I started watering every 2 hours with 30 ml, which would produce 20 ml runoff. This "perpetual flush" seemed to do the trick and after 3 days, they were looking fine. They are probably a little behind schedule, but looking healthy now! They are now at day 11 from germination.
Well, given this is my first attempt in solo cups, I'm making all sorts of mistakes! I normally would water a plant at this stage twice a day, but I thought in the solo cups they would need it a lot more frequently, so I've been hitting them with 20 ml every 2 hours. Too much it seems. From what I read on this site, I thought it was pretty hard to over water in coco, but my plants are displaying the curved down leaves. Could it be from something else? I just upped the EC of my solution to 1200, and that seemed to help some, and I just dialed back the watering to once every 4 hours. I have another solo cup tent set up so at least I can learn from my mistakes!
They just never bounced back like I wanted to see so I'm done with this grow 🙂 You gotta know when to call it. I'll get in on the next one after Christmas. I have another solo grow going right now that I hope will be better....I'll be posting pics to IG @growtekusa
