These are 15 gallon pots so It should be big enough for things to work out.  At least I’m hoping lol

I don't know I grew some plants in 15 gallon pots a couple runs ago, they fill the pots fast. Best of luck to you though.

I don’t know for sure but I lost all 4. I don’t know if it was something in my water or what but I have learned that I need to get a ph meter and take care of the life in my soil and pay more attention!

I'm guessing it has something to do with growing too many plants in those containers. The roots eventually just choked each other out or became root bound. I would recommend going with one plant per container.

Even hemp farms typically give their plants adequate space unless growing for fiber. They are usually treated like larger fruiting varieties such as tomatoes with up to 3 feet of space.

We typically grow for yield and this is why plants aren't grown close together. I recently read a PDF from a university about the subject.

I don’t believe that they almost simultaneously all chocked each other out.  I’ve seen many people have success with multi potting.  

You've seen it done, that doesn't mean that it's a good idea. I absolutely think it could have been roots being tangled and bound with two plants so close together. The way they died reminds me of one of my root bound plants, and it's a very logical conclusion. Unless you fed them something too hot, they were sitting on a heater, or you didn't water them.

I would say a more fair question is how big are those pots? I find you're able to put multiple plants into a single pot so long as the pot is large enough to sustain both plants. I'm a fan of doing two plants in one 30 gal fabric pot, typically from clone, but when I was doing the Cherry Cakes together like that, they were happy as could be, until they went Herm anyway. 

I believe they were in 15 gallon pots. I’m growing individual plants in 7 gals. and one would assume double the amount of soil would support double the amount of plants. Yet one single plant in a very large bed can grow extremely large, leading me to believe that just because a plant can do well in a smaller sized container, it has the potential to do much better. Competing roots may still happen, even if it’s not until later in the grow. I’ve got nothing to back up my theory other than my own reasoning, but I do respect the advice of accomplished growers. Chef did express his concerns early in this grow about just such an outcome. I don’t know what the ideal ratio of soil amount  to plant density is, but I imagine it’s probably larger than most growers think. It seems there’s always  a new subject to learn about.

I’ll dig them up and see if they are root bound but I don’t think that was the issue.  It has to be something in the water.  

I have a ph meter inbound to see if that was the issue.  Also going to get a filter. Hopefully the next grow goes better.

I ran into similar issues on my last grow. Besides the fact that I ran them in veg for too long, and probably used up most of the nitrogen available, I also had a high PH water of 8.5. I didn't discover this until it was too late and my outcome was very similar to yours. Since then I've started PH'ing my water with citric acid to bring it down to 6-6.5. This has made a significant difference in the way they are growing so far. Citric acid is relatively inexpensive and just a touch (1/4 - 1/2 tsp.per gal.) is all that's needed. Hope this helps on your future grows. Your garden was looking very nice before this happened, so I'm sure you'll do better on the next run. It's all a learning process and we have set back along the way, but the way we deal with them is whats important. I hope you can keep positive and move forward with a better understanding of this craft.
