NYGC PBreeding: Kinda new, but I read a lot!
WHEW! Build day was so fun. Had a few problem, went around them and kept it moving.
When I ordered the Drain Away Trays, I didn't think about them being 15.5 inches wide. Do the numbers with me: four 15.5 inch wide trays in a 3x3 tent. See what happened? I had to take everything out of the tent! I managed to put the dehumidifier in a small spot which was perfect.
Oh yeah, I modified a setup I saw on @chefomj (shout out). I didn't have room so I did this. Works fantastic. I had to move the drain bucket with it's pump outside the tent. All good.
Plants are loving it. I'm just fine tuning now.
MY EC METER BROKE! I made new nutes for the week but I won't dare introduce the solution without knowing exactly what the EC is. Thank the Amazon God's for next day delivery.
Girl are great!
Man, its been awhile. Things pile up when the world is coming apart.
All girls are doing great! The next skill I need to master is pHing the solution. I'm always over dosing the down, end up using up and making a nasty mess. Its so much easier with my Brute 40gal can. When mixing for my babies in 4 gallons of solution, things get weird. I need to learn more patients. Anyway, back to the grow.
Oh yeah, I guess that would be helpful. I popped 2 Rock Candy Kush, one died and 2 Breeders Cherry Cake. Flowering 3 plants now. I picked 12 clones. I was crazy excited! I've never cloned in cubes before. Only one died of a bent stem. Thats a damn good ratio for first time cloning.
I always read to start your flip count on the day of 12/12 lighting. I'm now seeing counts starting on the day you see pistils. Thats kinda iffy to me. Now I am wondering about the 63 day label on my girls. Is that from pistil or light change?
If anyone is wondering, I started about 1.5 weeks late plus I have a tendency of vegging longer. Veg is my favorite time because it seems i'm very good at it. Shit seems to hit the fan during flower. High humidity, temp variation and the ever present ph mess-ups.
I think the pH goes up with time so what I do is bring pH to the lowest number on the chart and let it raise to the highest before bringing it down again. I'm thinking this allows the plant to uptake nutrients at every level within the pH range. Just whistling in the dark here trying to get to know these girls better.
I can only flower 4 at a time. I'm thinking I will transplant two of each variety bringing my veg total to 6, then choose 4 to flower.
Meanwhile, I get to practice all kinds of training on these "throw away" plants. I wish there was somewhere I could donate them. It seems such a waste to cull perfectly good plants. Hell, I may hold on to them for another month then toss them somewhere in my back 5 acres. Let nature handle them.
Mars Hydro TS 600 for Veg in my 4x2 (1/3 of the tent is set up for clones)
And the Mars Hydro Tsw 2000 for my 3x3 flower tent.
Hell, I might just get crazy and flower everything in both tents! I wanted a perpetual grow but if the summer gets "Michigan Hot", off we go! Still thinking about it.
WHEW! CRAZY TIMES. Take a rip and read a bit about my tale of mistakes and learning.
I remember @Drmjcoco saying in his auto watering tutorial about not filling the reservoir over the level of the plants. I said I remembered it, but I didnt heed it. Well, I learned. The feeding chart says two weeks of med flower nutes. Well, I have a 32 gal Brute can. I have so much trouble with pH, I'm looking forward to not messing with it for two weeks. I set it up, mixed it (EC was a little low but like Liz Warren, "I have a plan for that"). I got home (yeah, I'm still working out here. Security never quits) to an over filled run-off bucket and a soaked carpet floor. Some people only learn by doing. lol So now some of my leaves look funky. Burned on the edge. That maybe some of my pH problems coming home to roost. I can fix this, just mix nutes more often, which I dont like but will get use to.
Now for the clone tent. If Dr Coco doesnt read this, I will need to contact him if one of you cant lend a hand. My flower plants coco was washed and strained and buffered with calmag. It was Mother Earths Coco Perlite mix. When I planted my clones, I was reading where this coco comes pre-buffered. So I skipped that step. However, my leaves look a lot like Calcium deficiencies. Check them out.
I'm going to be such a great grower. I'm having so many problems and knocking them out one by one. This is fun. Please get back to me on these leaves. How can I correct not buffering the coco? Water the hell out of it with Calmag water?
PS, Got more gadgets on the way. Amazon is slowing up these days.
Hey Fellow growers, how's it stretchin'?
We are at it again. True to the name, I'm collecting gadgets!
Bluelab Guardian monitor to straighten out my pH problems and a stronger Humidifier for flower tent.
I also got some Detroit Nutrient Company Great Lakes Water Only Soil
Since I have 5 more little tikes in solo cups, I might as well give the living soil a practice run. My plan is to grow them inside for a month or so then put them on the deck for some semi outdoor growing. Using this soil because coco would work me to death with all the watering outdoors. Plus, I'm letting the mrs. handle this one.
We are still spending Hella money at the dispensary. Cant wait till my perpetual cycle starts paying off.
Oh yeah. Just an update. I'm running a 3x3 flower tent with a Mars Hydro TSW 2000 and a 4x2 with a Mars Hydro TSW 600 for Veg. Its all working well. I'm having occasional burns but I cut them off before pics. Doesn't everyone?
Just Keep growing and growing and growing
Okay, quick note. My Plant room doubles as my "Pain Cave". For those who are into cycling, you KNOW what this is.
When I work out, the temp on the tent goes up about 2 degrees but you cant deny the added CO2 that the girls benefit from. It's a great symbiotic relationship.
I shaved my clones, maybe the last time before they go into flower in about 3 weeks. I did a fantastic job I think. Now I am thinking because I didnt do such a good job on the girls who are flowering now. They should be done in about 3 weeks. I guess its too late to clean them up one more good time. IDK. Comment please.
I'll be back with fresh pics. All is going so well I cant wait till the end. Actually, I have my next move already planned out. Perpetual garden, away!
]Big girls have about three weeks to go
I shaved them once but I let them grow wild after that. Legs still look good.
My clones are doing great. I shaved and defoliated them and they are ready for the flower tent as soon as it's ready. Look at those sexy legs. I'm going to stay on top of most of them to see how max attention works. I may get a few huge buds.
