Hey y'all! Gonna be joining this group to journal my grow of a strain called Beanstalk. However, I can't find any information about this strain and when I reached out to the seedbank they had no information either. I have no idea what the parent strains are, how long it should take to flower, or anything really. It sounds like a sativa, but anyway I'm excited to see how she turns out. She'll be grown in soil, maybe in a milk crate lined with landscape fabric. Gonna start soaking tomorrow night. Happy new years plant grow challenge! 🌱🌲
Here we go.. seeds have popped, went into the pots last night with the tap root a bit more than half an inch. She'll be growing next to a White Widow and they're both in the dome, on a heat mat, under a t5.
My soil mix is a recycled peat, coco, perlite blend with composted sheep manure, worm compost, Gaia 4-4-4 all purpose, and dolomitic lime. Been mixed up and sitting for a few weeks. Pre watered with liquid kelp, EM1, and humic acid in RO water remineralized with a small amount of seacrop.
Hope everyone's grow is off to a great start!
Beanstalk out in front. It's been a bit of a struggle to get the humidity and light dialed in, as documented in my W.W. grow journal, but things seem good now!
Also, I checked and apparently this is Beanstalk FAST so I expect it might take off a little faster. We'll see! ✌️
She's coming along! Had some humidity fluctuations, still a work in progress but getting there. Watered 1-2 ozs of water a couple days ago. Lights at the same height, heat mat still on. Let's go Beanstalk! 🌿
She's going! That second set of leaves is looking a bit longer/thinner than the white widow seedling on the left, so I'm thinking my initial guess that this is a sativa/sativa dom. strain might be right. Happy growing!
Transplanted into 1.6 gal pots and moved to a new tent under 26W CFL. 70°F/60-70%RH. All looks good! This plant grew alot more roots than the other strain I have running so I feel like she'll take off once acclimated. Happy growing 🌱🌿
Before transplant.
After. Beanstalk on the left, white widow on the right.
Beanstalk here is chugging along, she's under 86w of COB LED at about 12 inches, 76°F/62%RH.
Watered a couple days ago and topped today, looking good and ready for transplant soon I think.
Fairly long (and oddly curled) leaves on this strain. Not very compact plant, either. Might have to do some aggressive training to keep her from getting out of control.
Potted up into a milk crate and watered with kelp, humics, and EM. She looks a little stressed and droopy but is resting in the dark now so I'm sure she'll bounce back in no time. 2 weeks should be plenty of time to fill out this space.
Things are moving along.. maybe a little too fast. The 6 tallest branches have all been topped and bent aka. supercropped. I'm trying to keep the height down and keep her on pace with the other plant - a much more manageable white widow.
Everything else is good.. Temps reached 85°F with this light so I've turned up my fans a bit. Watered about 2 cups a couple days ago, just a little to keep the soil damp. I've been hearing about high frequency, low volume irrigation.. I tend to lean towards underwatering but am going to start leaning the other direction a bit, test the waters, so to speak.
Anyway, I'm excited to flip and hope everybody is doing well! ✌️🌿
Watered deeply yesterday.
Trained and trimmed today. Had to add some additional plant ties.. the trellis is so-so.
Post-trim:
Pulled some huge fan leaves.. long stems on some of them too. This is a wild plant, it's exciting not knowing what she's gonna do when she starts flowering🌻🌻
