I’m going to grow an assortment of things in a single container for reasons.
- PuTang from Mass Medical. This should be colorful and delicious.
- Blue Dream from ILGM. This is their version of a clone-only cultivar, but I’m eager to try it.
- Mango Sherbert from Humboldt Seed Co. They claim it’s ready at day 50. Yeah. Okay.
I’m going to keep this cohabitation small. I don’t want a big harvest; I just want a small head stash.
I’ll be topping, bending, binding, staking, stripping, and pruning off flowers. I aim to keep stress low.
Gear: AC Infinity tent, Vivosun 8” in-line fan, HLG 600 R-Spec, Custom fertigation system, Jack’s 321 nutrients, etc…
Let’s Gooooo!
PuTang and Mango Sherbert are in rapid rooter plugs, but Blue Dream hasn’t germinated yet. I started a 2nd Blue Dream seed.
update 8/15: The second Blue Dream seed has opened slightly. The PuTang and Mango Sherbert haven’t emerged from rooters yet, so Blue Dream can still catch up.
update 8/16: I carefully pried open both Blue Dream seeds, and the germplasms look viable in both. They might just need more time.
While the germplasms in the Blue Dream seeds look healthy, I’m not getting any positive signals yet.
Today I soaked a gynoecious Black Domina seed (Sensi Seeds), and now it’s in paper towel inside a ziplock. Tonight I soaked a gynoecious Blackberry Kush seed (ILGM), and it’s gonna stay in water and peroxide overnight.
I might also start a vial (~8seeds) of dioecious Blackberry Kush x Icy Grape F2 that I made. Maybe.
I transplanted the Blackberry Kush to a rapid rooter, but the Black Domina sprout needed help shedding the shell and I killed it while trying; however, it was slightly necrotic anyway. I left the remaining germplasm in paper towel because you never know, and nature is metal as hell.
I soaked 10 dioecious Blackberry Kush x Icy Grape F2 seeds in H2O2. They are going to soak overnight in that plus water.
update 8/22: 3/10 seeds have visibly germinated
Mea Culpa. I accidentally used a “seedling solution” that was 1148 microsiemens on the PuTang, Mango Sherbert, and Blackberry Kush. That’s not why I had issues getting germination on the Blue Dream or Black Domina, but it is why the plants are a bit underdeveloped. I’m watering with filtered water and Recharge now. EC is 170 microsiemens.
The Blackberry Kush x Icy Grape F2 (BIG Kush from here forward) sprouts look fine. One, farthest to the right in photo, got turned upside down finding its way to the light, but I think it’ll make it.
Blue Dream is still sleeping.
I transplanted the PuTang, Mango Sherbert, and Blackberry Kush to 4x4 containers. When I was tagging I couldn’t remember whether it was Sherbert or Sorbet so I settled on Kush. Just kidding. I mislabeled it, and will fix it later.
I’m still hand watering these plants, and I’ll need to continue that until they get moved to their final home.
I made space in my vegetative tent for these Friends to get familiar. That’s going to happen pretty soon.
The small plants are responding well to the changes (1100 microsiemens and much more light). I pruned away a lot of the other vegetation in the tent to give them room to grow. I feel like we’re now on track for the 10/1 flip date.
I still feel that the potmates will be ready for the October 1st flip date. PuTang could be doing better, but I think it just needs to get a little more established; the sudden jump in EC couldn’t have helped. I’m not worried that it’s going to die (yet), but I have my fingers crossed that it will recover quickly.
I think the issue the PuTang is having is the roots aren’t as vigorous or developed as the other plants. The good news is that a little investigation revealed new roots shooting out of the rapid rooter, and my hope is that the plant will take off. I’m going to move the fertigation line a bit farther away from the center, so those roots need to stretch for the solution. That’s plant training, isn’t it?
I’m pleased with the other plants. I’m thinking about container size and pruning.
PuTang is looking much better. I cut back the vegetative mothers that were shading out these plants.
