Hello fellow growers, Dub here to start my Jack Herer auto journal. I have a 5 pack of the auto Jack and will be growing one for the NYGC. I have wanted to grow this strain for some time and also have a single photo Fem freebie from seedsman as well. I'm hoping that this auto grow along with others in the challenge will jump start my desire to grow the photoperiod.
This is my first journal here but hopefully not my last! I do have a cannabuzz profile as well and post semi-frequently. I started growing in dwc for a few years and took several years off, currently I've been growing for about a year this time and have really been into the organic/ living soil methods. In looking forward to everybody's grows, happy growing!
Planted the seed directly into the 3 gallon final container with great white mycorrhizae, the soil is from a previous gelato autoflower in supersoil. The autoflowers was chopped 6 months or so ago and a dense cover crop of clover went wild... About 2 weeks ago I chopped the cover crop and topped with compost and added red wrigglers, and 3 days ago I top dressed with bio live and mulched with rice hulls. Ps. I suck with transplanting autos... I'm going to work on that but not today... Lol
No news on the jack herer, it hasn't popped above the soil yet but I'm giving it a little time. I'm winding down on my current grow, here is a shot of my Morning Dew pheno 3 by Irie Genetics at day 73 of 11/13
Well seed one never germinated , dug up the area and it was still just a seed. Popped a second seed in water and planted. It's above ground (finally...), I'm a little late but not out of the game yet!
Weekly update. She's looking pretty good, so far so good! Been battling aphids but after a consecutive 3 day spray of Dr zymes eliminator and then the weekly spray I seem to have them moderately controlled. Oh and not to mention the baby mantis lol
Nygc update , the jack Herer auto is growing well. No real changes other than gaining a little size and using a little more water.
Weekly update, my temps have been hovering in the high 60s to low 70s and my led cooked her a little but she's still growing well. Her fan leaves were laying flat last night but today she's doing better, night time was about 45 minutes after this pic was taken.
She's still growing well, starting to get some good side branching starting and her stem is thickening nicely. I'm curious to see what she grows into, no discernable aromas from stem rubs so far.
Here we are at day 34 of life with the Jack Herer auto, we have preflowers and more weird crinkled growth. She definitely has some thick side branches, that's for sure.
Day 43 update, super cropped the main cola and tied down the 2nd largest shoot. I selectively prune leaves that I feel are blocking airflow when needed. She's getting branchy and her stem rubs smell nice, sweet almost pine smell but not quite, it's hard to place.
Day 50 update. She's growing pretty decent, stretching her stubby little arms. I'm having an aphid infestation in my grow bed (8" away) that I'm currently treating with beneficial bugs. The aphids don't really seem to like this plant much, so that's a positive! I've added some light bondage and have been spraying the lowest branch with sts solution from twenty20 Mendocino, hopefully I can post pictures of some good results.
