Sour Crack [mephisto] barrel grow
Well the "stealth bomber" is getting another run, so wish me luck!
Started seed with a 14hr soak in tap water and into a paper towel inside a plastic clipseal bag.
Strain notes from Mephisto...
Originals Strain: Sour Crack
Genetic Heritage - Green Crack cut (Cecil C) x Breeding auto L2 x 24 Carat
Seed Type: F8 Feminised Automatic
Project introduction and Overview:
Sour Crack, love or hate the name is one of our fastest and most popular varieties. We feel she is one of our flagship cultivars and really broke ground and gained traction with the idea of connoisseur automatics. Sour Crack is a perfect sea-of-green machine, one of the frostiest varieties in the Mephisto arsenal and is a very useful strain to have in your auto-toolbox. Not only is she lightning fast but it is extremely resinous and potent to match. Mephisto Genetics were looking for a strain for stealthy quick runs, that could double as a commercial quality autoflower with a connoisseur flavour profile.
Both of her photoperiod parents are extremely fast and frosty varieties. The Green Crack has the rush high, and the 24 Carat has the Afghan couchlock effect, together they make an incredibly powerful yet well rounded effect. Sour Crack has been used as the auto parent of many strains down the years including our Artisanal strains Sour Stomper & Sour Livers, and our Limited Edition White Crack.
Sour Crack truly is a cracking variety.
...I'll let myself out.
Strain behavior and structure:
Sour Crack, being a fast strain, has a short seedling stage and as soon as she sexes there's a small time period of extra veg/stretch growth before switching hard into flower mode. Frost levels are very high, trichome development is apparent from early on and she quickly makes chunky dense buds that are dripping in resin. Consequently, Sour Crack makes a beautiful extraction/hash plant to work with. Commercially, she can be taken as little as 55 days from sprout, but for the connoisseur auto grower and toker, 60-65 days is more accurate depending on the exact effect the grower wants. She's an auto akin to the reason we love autos! Sour Crack doesn’t want for much, take care of her, watch the amazing daily progression before your eyes and the rewards will soon come.
Sour Crack works fantastically as an autoflower sea-of-green strain, for really above average yields. Having dense buds and being a short stature plant with thick foliage, she’s not best suited for outdoors unless you’re in an arid climate.

5/12/19 - Tap root emerged from bottom of pellet. Transplanted into seedling bag and fertigated with seedling mix with added seaweed extract diluted to 400EC 6.2PH. When transplanting I removed the net from the jiffy pellet.
7/12/19 - fertigated again with 400EC seedling mix with added seaweed extract.
8/12/19 - fertigated with 400EC and 6.2ph seedling mix with added seaweed extract.
18/12/19 - Transplanted into 1gal pot. Flushed coco buffered coco with Strong H202 mix to sanitize and flushed again with early veg mix PHd to 6.0 moved back to once a day fertigations and added yucca to mix. Some tip burn potentially from excess light after moving into barrel. New growth looks okay. EC set to 1000 rather than 1100 due to heat. Lights set to 13000 lux and slowly rising each day
26/12/19 - plant just popped pistils. Was shooting 7th node with 6th node developed. Topped back to 5th node. I originally planned on toppimg on the 24/12... but you know, Christmas etc. Also has roots coming from the bottom of the pot so will transplant in a couple of days after letting it recover from the topping
2/01/2020- That's the 2nd of January for those that write their date backwards... Did some training, super cropped the top node (node 5) and bent node 4 down to match. Left node 3 to grow naturally for now. Have been fertigating with 1L a day and getting about 400ml run off. EC was much lower than inflow (1100in & 500out), Doc said this could be because the plant is searching for P. Noticed some slight pinking of the stems, changed nutes to early bloom.
Ahh haven't updated for a while.... So... I ended up putting together my auto water system and it's making my life so much easier it's amazing lol. I'm currently on mid flower nutes and she is doing well. Recovered quickly from the topping, stretching a bit and has a nice even canopy. Thought I might have gnats for a bit but I think it might have been a stray. No signs on the yellow sticky trap I have and I gave a dose of neam mixed with fertigation.
