1st Coco Grow- White Widow & AK-47
Greetings all! This will be my first outing into the exciting world of cannabis horticulture! I have prepared as much as possible for this moment and am ready to start producing great quality Cannabis! I will be attempting to keep a detailed grow journal and would appreciate any coaching and expertise this community can provide!
- Fabric Seedling Bags
- 1/2 Gallon Fabric Transplanter pot
- 5 Gallon Fabric Pot
- 14'' Plastic Saucer
- Cheaper Alternative:13'' Square Farmer Pot
Elevatorand Saucer- I recommend these only if your final container is a 5 gallon pot. I think over this and it would be too small
- 5 Gallon Bucket
- 10L Water Dispenser
- I am using this to easily mix my nutrients
- Training Supplies
- Oral Syringes for easily Measuring Nutrients
- Heavy Duty Zip Ties
- 2 Mother Poland
- 3 Ak-47
- 2 Bubble Gum
I zip tied the fan to two supports running along the ceiling of the tent. When it came time to put the filter on I realized there was a challenge to hang it up. I ended up using some extra straps I had and wrapped them around the filter. I then zip tied it to the ceiling. All in all it looks ok and functions. I need to wrap the joint where the filter meets the fan with Ducting tape though to create an even better seal although they already fit pretty snug together.
For now I have a table in the room for the seedlings. I will start my seedlings under the T5 light to prevent them from reaching.
Tomorrow my seeds arrive and I will be germinating 6 of them!!! I welcome any and all advice from the community!
Today I received my seeds! However, the seed bank I ordered from totally forgot a whole pack of seeds so I will not be growing Bubble Gum. Instead I have chosen to do 3 White Widow and 3 AK-47.
I have chosen to soak my seeds in water for 24hrs and then I will transfer them to jiffy pellets
My grow room is sitting at 70F and 52% humidity.
I hope to see something tomorrow!
It's rather cold where I live and of course we try to save money by keeping the house colder. The grow room does not receive much conditioned air and so it runs a little colder than the rest of the house. It was consistently staying around 68-71 degrees and was not optimal for my seedlings. I purchased a $40 ceramic heater from WalMart and combined with my fan it has stabilized the grow room temp. The one I bought is small enough to fit inside and has digital controls so I can select the temp I want. It also can double as a fan when temperatures rise in the spring. I'm sharing this in case others are looking for a suggestion for a heater.
This morning was a nice surprise! Not only did the one from yesterday sprout all the way up, but so did a twin!!!! I have moved them into the grow room and placed the light about 4 inches above them. I have used a syringe to water them a lil bc the top was getting dry. I hope some White Widows make their ways soon!
I decided to check in on the white widows bc I feared they may not be germinating. Two are not germinated and are black so I know they are gone. Sad day. I use it as an opportunity to assess what went wrong. I think they may have been bad seeds, I overwatered the peat pellet, I buried the seed to deep, or a seedling mat would have given the seed the edge it needed to sprout. I have elected to start soaking 2 of the bubble gum seeds I received today ( The seed bank fixed their mistake fast!!!) And decided to try and germinate the rest of the white widows. The 3rd white widow from Monday may be sprouted as I thought I could see roots but I will germinate the rest of the white widow seeds I have just in case.
Everyone send me your well wishes!!!! Even if you're reading this in the future!!!
Today i inspected the final white widow and she is a dud. But on the brighter side the AK-47 seedlings are showing roots so it's time to transplant! I made my nutrient blend as follows
CalMag 5 ml/gal
Flora micro 1.25 ml/gal
Flora gro .6 mL/gal
Flora bloom .6mL/gal
I mixed the nutrients with purified water which gave me an EC of 498 to which I adjusted the pH to 6.04.
I diluted some "seedling nutrient stock" to EC 400 and the pH wound up being 6.30 without any adjustment needed. Thanks Dr. Coco!!!! Your pH technique helps save time!
I flushed my buffered coco below EC 100 and am now letting fabric seedling bags filled with coco soak in nutrient. After an hour or so I will transplant and post some more pics!
I inspected the white widow seeds bc they are suspect after I got every other seed to germinate. They are ungerminated so I decided as a last ditch I will soak them in water for a lil longer. Anyway, the garden is looking nice, the other 3rd AK is thriving and a bubble gum is up with another on the way (can see it through peat). Looks like we will have at least 5 babies.
The third AK showed roots today so I flushed my buffered coco and then soaked it in seedling strength nutrient (pH 6.35 EC 398) for 30 min. Everyone else is growing strong. Hopefully the 2nd bubblegum will pop up its head tomorrow and the one under the light opens up. I may start doing 3 fertigations soon if my ECs keep climbing at the rate they are.
