NYGC Desserts: Girl Scout Cookies and 99 Headband
Kinda learning how to manage a small home grow. Looking forward to another season of growing in the beautiful outdoors of central cali. Haven't grown these strains before so, we'll see...
These seedlings will remain indoors under 60W LED bulb until they’re hard enough to handle the low temps (currently around 40 degrees Fahrenheit) outside. This maybe a month, or two away from the present time, and vegetating chamber is ≈ 80°F; 24/7 lit, and media is garden potting mix.
These were started back in October, and fortunately thriving in the winter temps of 30’s - 50’s most days. As you can probably imagine they’re only warmed by the sun during the day, and I’ve constructed a shelter to house them which keeps the wind chill at a minimum. Both are GSC, and probably a couple more weeks from harvest.. and re-vegetative (hopefully) flip. Then they’ll be outside completely.
I like the purple, on GSC. Looking forward to feedback, on pest problems.? I don’t spray, or use foliar treatments of any kind; for that matter. I try to keep all inputs as ‘natural’ as possible. In the past, I’ve mostly hand-picked any creatures that didn’t look to benefit the plant well-being. Will post more pics, of the actual grow, and that’s going very slow. Still need to separate/repot this years starts, and arrange them into groups of like-strains... t.b.c.
I reveged a few plants, and all but one successfully. So, there’s 5/6 girls. I took some pictures of them, and wish they were in bigger containers. They’re growing well so far, despite the 108 °F daytime temps… there’s no major pest pressure so far, but they’re still healthy overall except for a little leeward lean from the consistent, powerful winds that sweep through this particular area. Happy growing.
These girls have survived some persistent environmental strain (ants, heat, wind), and are still holding strong. The 3 best plants are included in the pics. I don’t think they’re all harvesting the same day/week/month even. I have kinda lost track of which is which as far as plant variety. I would expect GSC to have an earlier harvest date compared with HB “99” but one of these plants definitely smells dank. The others are more fruity/spicy. Each plant came from a seed though, and that would help explain the inter strain variation. Happy growing y’all!
