Hey all starting a journal here on 3 dgth and 3 unknown autos. The autos were supposed to be photoperiod but seedsman mixed my seeds up ?.
A little info about the grow; 5x5x7 and 4x4x7 for autos. 7 gallon fabric pots with my own amended soil mix, will get into that later, topped with roots organics original. Using 1000 watt hps in both tents. 6 inch outake for exhaust in the 5x5 with a 4 inch active intake and a 12 inch oscillating fan. 4x4 no exhaust with back of the tent unzipped in my shop and an oscillating fan moving air around. Currently in flower in both tents.
Medium consists of roots organics original with dte all organic omri certified amendments. Langbeinite, neem meal, kelp meal, oyster shell, granulated humic acids, feather meal, fish bone meal, not dte products epson salt, garden lime, bti, and diamatocious earth. Top dressing with roots organics uprising, ewc, and my own little top dress recipes, mostly containing kelp meal. Feeding teas, well water and molasses. Elemental, kelplex, and Oregonismxl by aurora innovations as well as liquid bone meal by dte.
All of these gals will be harvested after different dark periods to answer my own query about darkness effecting trichome production. Outdoors this will happen with severe overcast and many other environmental factors but this is a controlled expirement. One plant will be harvested with no extended dark period whilst the other 2 will have a dark period; one with 24hrs of darkness and the other with 36hrs of darkness. Even the mixed up autos which I refer to as the misfits
And now that I got all that out of the way, I still can't figure how to show some pics.
Looking good! Really happy we get to keep growing together @chefomj !
I am posting my journal presently!
We're stacking them budlets here on the dgth. They were slow to start budding, went a whole week in transition almost before flowers started unfurling.
The stretch is pretty much over. And I'm going to consider this start of week 2 of flower. They say 65 days of flowering but think they might need the extra 10 days to finish.
Raised the light a titch, since my hygrometer is set at 13 inches from my canopy as my guide for light height. The leggy dgth, back right still has a little verticle growth going on but not much at all. Will get in there and supercrop some flowers down then I might be able to lower my light again.
Maybe I'll take a little more off the bottom to promote bigger mains but it looks so pretty and the little larf that is growing doesn't seem to be effecting the tops as much as some other strains I've worked with. To cut or not to cut, enee meanee minee mo ?.
Growers love all!
Keeping up on the misfits. These girls are ripining fast and considering it an 80 day strain. Really wish I knew wtf I was growing here. Definitely not gorilla cookies, seedsman doesn't carry an auto version.
Was hard for me to get a pic of the calyxes' trichs, had too much coffee and all the pistils are in the way rofl.
I think they're super close and my dark room isn't even ready. They're already experiencing some awkwardly low temps at times. I'm thinking of just culling most of the clones I had recently taken, they don't look so good. But the clones and mama mias in with the misfits are taking off despite the weather.
What do you guys think about a harvest time? They look close to me.
I know one still needs a couple weeks ?.
@chefomj
damn man you have some beautiful plants!
I am so glad to hear you talking about the end of the stretch with the DGTH. Mine are still gaining 2” per day and I am going to run out of space if they don’t settle down soon.
And those Autos are doing great things very quickly. Do you think we have the same strain? I was thinking about talking to Expert Seeds and seeing what they thought could be responsible. They’ll probably blame seedsman, but hoping maybe they have something to add.
But regardless of what they are and why they auto’d they look great and I bet the smoke is going to be great too!
Thanks guys. I don't know if we got the same strain but it's possible. Seedsman said they'd look into it but never got back to me. I'm not even sure they will know lol. Regardless they smell wonderful and thinking I'm within a week or 2 for harvesting the autos.
Of my 2 dgth one is very indica looking, short bushy.
The other is very sativa looking, taller, lanky, and before long will be double the height.
The GC is looking more indica.
I'm happy I got breeder packs, mystery seeds suck ass when you want specifics. My first 5 grows were unknown, one turned out totally sativa, growing over 7 feet tall in my room. Screwed me up big time. But my journals went by way of the dodo.
Speaking of which, do we have to have a special dance and handshake to save our journals? Or will threads get archived? I was heart broken to relize all of my journals were gone on T.O.S.(the other site)?
Lights off is 73 even right now - pretty typical. Lights on is 80
They have slowed to 1" per day last 2 days. We'll see tonight.
I wanted to update my journal yesterday, but we are really busy working on getting the forum issues resolved. On top of that, I have to prepare classes and do some grading today. I will take pics at lights on and post an update tonight ?
Definitely looks like what I have here. The time line is pretty much spot on. So I'll be taking the misfits down in the next 6-10 days. https://expertseedbank.com/shop/blue-cheese-autoflowering/
I have my lights off during the day and on at night. This allows much better night/day temperature differential. Which helps prevent elongation.
For example during veg, i have my lights on between 4PM and 10AM and off between 10AM and 4PM. So that gives me a little chance to work on them in the morning and plenty of time in the afternoon.
For flowering, i have the lights on between 10PM to 10AM and off between 10AM to 10PM. This gives me a chance in the morning and at night to work on them.
The heat during the day due to increased daytime temperatures, helps to keep the lights off temps from being too low and at night the heat from the lights also helps from temps being too low.
Makes the most efficient use of heat energy available and provide the best lights on lights off temperature differential. It also prevents overtemperature as well by not having lights on during the hottest times of the day, where many people have problems keeping temps down.
I am 9pm-9am. Nobody sent me the memo about 10pm-10am ?
But yeah, Lights on at night is the best
