Raw Genetics - Melon Mints - In Search of a Mom
OK folks... I am doing my SAFC grow journal right now and it is looking good with 24 clones.
For me to be able to continue my SOG grow I need to find a nice female for cuttings. My current grow should be done in a little over 2 months so that gives me time to start some regular photo period seeds and find a vigorous female to clone.
That means I am on the hunt for a MILG - Mom Id Like to Grow.
I will be starting regular photo-period seeds from Raw Genetics - Melon Mints
I will be soaking the seeds for 24-48 hours in distilled water until they crack open and I will then throw in a wet paper towel for another 48 hours. They will then be moved into my 1.5" rockwool cubes and placed in my humidity dome with the florescent lights.
Once the first set of true leaves come out I will move into my mom tent under a 500w blurple light and let it grow until I can sex the plant.
Raw Genetics has been great to work with so far as I have sent them a ton of emails asking a bunch of questions and they responded quickly to each one. This will be my first grow of their genetics so I am really looking forward to seeing what they can do.
I bought a single pack of Melon Mint seeds and I have attached a picture of what I was sent.
Wow... I meant to get these seeds popped sooner.....
I just put the seeds in a cup with distilled water today.
I didn't scuff the seeds, shake them around in the water, add aloe or h202... Just distilled water in a cup.
I will likely leave them in the cup for 36 hours before transferring into a papertowel...and eventually Rockwool plugs.
Ok.. I sure hope I didn't screw up but I left out of town for 3 1/2 days. Before I left I removed the seeds after a 24 hour soak and put right into paper towels.
When I got back all three seeds sprouted and started growing through the papertowel fibers. These were some vigorous seeds that I wish I was home to watch closer.
I had the cut around the roots and try to plant everything together. Since I needed more flexibility I decided to plant these into a jiffy starter instead of my normal rockwool plug. They are now sitting under my flourscents until they root. Hopefully they survive the transplant!!!!
Everything is moving along slowly but surely. These Melon mints look like they are going to have tight node spacing and will likely be nice and squat. I have new lights coming for the mom tent on Thursday and I will be replacing the Blurples with 480 watts of LED with UV and IR. Currently, I have the seedlings under fluorescents and hope to move them over soon.
I got my new lights in and looks like one of the seedling is looking a little funky as is sprouting giant leaves.... Maybe too much Nitrogen?? We will see what the next 30 days look like with her but I am sure he/she will be fine. All in all, everything is ticking along and I hope they show sex in next 30-40 days.
Well I sent in leaf samples to Delta labs as I wanted to speed up the sexing as I have too many plants in mom tent. I sent in 6 samples and I just got a message that all samples look to be males.... They are going to run one more time on 3 of the samples to double check but I am super bummed... This thread may be coming to an end much sooner than anticipated :(. I know for sure tonight.
