NYGC Desserts: Vanilla Frosting
Vanilla frosting is a gelato style strain from HSC. I plan to grow two, topping once probably. This breeder is not really oriented to indoor strains but Ive had good luck outdoors with them. Soaking 3 seeds in water with a bit of kelp added, and a new grow has begun.
Two seeds have sprouted, one is slow and has not broken the surface. Its a good thing i started an extra. Also, took some cuts that I may flower out. There were taken from a plant i have already flipped, but less than a week, so it will be interesting to see how the do.
growing steadily. The cuts are starting to show new growth. My challenge will be to fit them in this tent. I think i am not going to top and flip as early as possible.
Everything is ready to transplant! My plan is to grow the two seedlings and two clones and try to keep them small. I am not planning to top, depending on growth.
Two of the kush clones went into one gallon airpots yesterday.
The vanilla frosting seedlings are going into 2# airpots. I dont have them yet, so today they went into an intermediate one half gallon container for a bit, maybe a week.
Here is the setup. My lights are at about 40k lux and no change in nutrients/ec. I could increase the lights tomorrow, but i dont want them to get too big. Also changed lighting to 18/6.
The vanilla frosting is developing well and ive decided to top one and let the other go natural. If the tent gets too crowded the VF can go single cola.
The two gallon airpots have arrived quicker than expected but its too early to transplant.
One of the kush cuttings looks a little yellowed so i have to foliar with half strength nutes. Those kush seeds were all flakey.
The plan is one VF topped in 2g, one VF untopped in 2g, and two Royal Highness clones in 1g
topped above the fourth node.
The roots are growing in well on the VF. Probably up pot to the 2# tomorrow and we are on schedule to flip in a week.
The kush clones are growing well, perhaps a little too vigorously to grow without training. The stems are soft and pliable, so i gave them a twist and some bending. Here they are all bent over, i bet they will be upright tomorrow.
I may trim the top node to keep them short while the seedlings are old enough to flip.
Time to transplant the VF to the final pots. Good root growth for less than a week, nice green leaves, so flip is imminent. Probably wednesday, which is early but i want to control size. The clones are doing well, i am still manipulating the stems with twisting and some light crushing, getting them toughened up.
Changed to 12/12 light schedule. Funny growth on the clones, twisted leaves. Started when i bent the main stem over, not sure if that did it. Temps and rh have been swinging wildly, theres not much i can do about it at the moment. Need to get drain and autowater set up for this tent, and i will need to move the air filter out next week to make room for stretch.
one of the clones had to go, its too crowded. The clones got some funny growth, either from the transplant or the light schedule change. It looks like some early reveg. Oh well. Nice and healthy tho. Only using the one on the right, the other is being culled.
ok its getting set up for the stretch. Going to go with three plants.
