First day of 2023 and the first day of the NYGC!
This year's grow is going to be Lava Cake and Gary Payton from the folks over at Homegrown Cannabis Co and Banana Mango from Humboldt Seed Company. I will be planting 2 of each for a total of 6. I will be participating in the One Cola Challenge, as well.
All 6 seeds were dropped into RO water at the stroke of midnight and placed on a heating mat for 12 hours before being placed in Root Riot cubes.
The tray w/dome (vents closed) have been placed back on the heating mat to stay warm. I should start seeing little ones poking up in the next day or so.
Thanks for stopping by!
Growers log, day 2
One of the Lava Cakes forgot which way was up and tried to stand on its head. After a slice of the Root Riot cube, I freed the little one and corrected its course.
Success! 6/6 and couldn't be happier. I've opened up the vents on the dome and will be acclimating them tomorrow.
All 6 are looking good and ready for solo cups. I filled solo cups 3/4 full with a 70/30 mix of coco/perlite and buffered with a low EC mix of Clonex rooting solution, ph of 6.5. I put the cups on a heat mat to warm up before moving the cubes over.
Been awhile since I've posted, but here we are at ot up time. I buffered the pots with a fertigation solution at 1.7 ec and a ph of 6.0. One of the Lava Cake has been struggling since germination, so I think I found the first candidate for the one cola challenge.
BAM! Just like that, these girls have kicked it into overdrive and started putting on the biomass. I'm expecting to be potting these up in a week and sending them into flower. EC is at 1.8 with a ph of 6.0. They are doing so good that it's making it hard to select which to make the one cola challenge plant(s).
Time for the last pot up before flipping to flower on Wednesday. I buffered the 3 gallon fabric pots with the current ec of 1.8 for two days, then dusted the hole with .5 Tbsp of Mycos and 1 Tbsp of the Azos. Roots are abundant, healthy and ready for more room. Next is setting up the auto fertigation for HFF once flipped to flower. 🌱💚
Forgot to make an entry on flip day, but this is the start of week 2. Plants all look healthy and happy.
First day of week 3 and I have a packed tent. Canopy has completely filled the 4x4 area and pistils are forming. The Gary Payton and Lava Cake are both maintained a similar height, but the Banana Mango in the middle decided to take different profiles. One is tall with long nodes, while the other decided to stay short and squatty. Stretch should be about done, so I hope the difference doesn't get further apart. Last week I was feeding twice a day at 1.8 ec. This week it drops to about 1.6-1.7, with an additional feeding added in during lights on. PH is kept at a steady 6.0. This weekend I will be lollipoping the tent to open up the bottoms and get some more airflow over the top of the pots.
Thanks for stopping by! 🌱💚
Last day of week 3 and the girls look like are stopping the stretch ans have started making pom poms. Just like a cheerleader rooting for the home team, these girls cheering me on as I continue to feed 3x a day at 1.9 EC, with a 6.1 PH. I added an extra fan to the tent when I noticed a little moisture on a few of the places where leaves were laying on top of each other. Will have to keep an eye on the airflow to make sure mold doesn't develop anywhere.
Day 1 of week 5 and the tent is doing great. Banana Mango (front, center) has caught up to the rest of the girls to even out the canopy. The bud sites are really starting to fill in as I continue to feed at an EC of 1.9 with a PH of 6.1.
