Northern Lights Auto fem, Seedsman
3/3/2020 I planted the 3 seedlings in 3" pots with Roots potting soil placed in 9.5 x 19.5 planter tray with dome under fluorescent lights older 24" . One of the seedlings has a seed husk on the leaves I cannot remove without damage to plant.
3/7/2020 completed 42" x 42" veg room in grow shed installed Mars Hydro TS 1000 and filtered exhaust fan, moved propagation greenhouse to shed
3/16/2020 transplanted 3 seedlings to 6" plastic pots due to them drying out overnight.
3/20/2020 moved to Veg-grow room using
for humidity control and
for temperature control
I wired a cord with two inputs one from the humidity controller and one from the temperature controller to the fan being sure to keep the polarity straight ( neutrals and hots on their same sides)the fan comes on with high temp or high humidity brings on a heater for low temp and humidifier for low humidity.
P. S. I have only worked with clones before and am growing in soil (I have decided its for advanced growers as soil is much different from coco)
This is when I start running into problems I see on one of the leafs yellowing that looks like cal-mag deficiency so I go to the hydro-grow shop an buy some cal-mag. I also dig out some Foxfarm grow and add that to the water I had been PHing the water to 5.8 its low for soil but I hadn’t listened to that podcast yet I see girls are flowering
I get a good response from adding fertilizer to the water I had ph-ed the water I didn’t think to check the ph after I added the fertilizer.
I added a lot more fertilizer a lot more I went to the hydro shop and bought like 6 more supplements and I started treating like it was coco and not soil
After 3 fertigations I start getting some burnt leaves and my EC- tester arrived so I tested the runoff an I had a PH of 4.1 and 4600 us
this brings me up to today I have one plant doing well so I am not flushing it but the the one burned I watered with 7.1 ph RO and got the runoff up to 5ph and EC to 3500 us
this is the burning from additional fertilizer and not PH-ing the end result of my additions. I’m not sure if it’s nute burn of low PH?
i got my self draining saucers installed I watered Thing 2 yesterday (one on the right) added 1gal but didn’t get runoff I think I am not watering enough and I am getting high EC 4000+ and low PH 4.2 I will water (flush) today until I get runoff I don’t want to do too much as she is doing well wile Thing 1 (the one on the left) has some burnt leaves I went with soil for my first grow because I wanted to keep it simple but it’s not with coco it’s easier to track what’s happening with the nutes and PH
They are doing better fertigation at 1/2 strength of the manufacturers recommendations I am watering every other day Roots soils holds water a long time I have to watch I don’t over water I am testing by sticking my finger in the soil and if it’s an a inch down I water I discovered that the pots are 7 gal not 5 they shipped the wrong ones and I didn’t check the tag it takes 2 gal to get runoff unlike coco
Thing 1&2 I have finally flushed this soil ec down, you have to go slowly to the nutes I learned a lot from my first autos grow and first in 20 years I have been flushing every other day with RO water ph to 6.5 and finally I have got the EC down to 400 with 35 going in and the ph to 5.8 in the runoff they are at 10 weeks and thing 1 is ripening the other one looks like she is still growing I might give her some very deluded nutes she just cleared this last flush 4600 ec flush before last and 2500 ec this last flush I will give her another water only with out runoff then she how she looks the next watering I will go to runoff and check the ec & ph
