Wzup y’all. Doing a little tester run for green point seeds.
The strain is Dotz: Runtz x Purple punch.
Normal photo period, 10 regular seeds. 32 x 32 x 64 grow tent. 1 xs2000 vipraspectra.
*Plan is to harvest any males for pollen. Keep one or two of the best females for taking to flower and use for the PTGC. The remaining females I will let get pollinated for seed/gene preservation.
Germinated 10 seeds in tap water for 24 hrs, then placed in wet paper towel and placed in a plastic freezer bag to hang in a dark closet for another 24hr or so. Will check every 8hrs for tap roots.
Ok it’s been just shy of 24hrs in the paper towel.
All the seeds sprouted tap roots. I basically took the best looking 5 and placed them in cups 1-5, and then the smaller tap rooted sprouts got placed in 6-10. All were transplanted into solo cups with triple buffered coco and perilite. I know some frown upon putting newly sprouted seeds in coco straight out the gun, but I have great success transplanting directly into coco.
First off let me say greenpoint has some vigorous ass seeds. Having grown their seeds a couple of times, I can say that 100% of their seeds cracked and produced healthy tap roots. Now that being said the seeds are only as good as their user and I got a lil lazy. I should of transplanted a couple of them earlier. #9 and #10 will most likely not make it. In my experience once the seed sheds its shell before being transplanted into its medium, they rarely make it. 100% my fault, not the breeders. But even with those two gone we’re still looking at 8-10🤞
So into the dark tent until we see some popping up, then let the sunshine in 🌞

Alright it’s been about 48hrs, and I’m glad to report all 10 have broke the surface. Only one hasn’t shed its shell yet. I cannot believe that #9 and #10 not only made it but are doing well.
This just goes to show the quality of genetics that greenpoint has, and the vigor their seeds possess.
Under my vipraspectra xs2000 at about 25% power. About 22 inches from the cups.
Hopefully everything will keep going smoothly.🤞

Ok moving along nicely. About to start raising the feed strength.
Still at only a single fertigation per 24hr. I usually do daily cal mag foliar feed for the first week or so because I germ straight into coco, this seems to help them with any deficiencies during their early life.
Up the intensity of the light to 50%. A lil hotter then I want temps 79-84. But I guess I can’t complain with only a lil desk fan and no exhaust.
But so far so good.🤞

Ok starting to take off.
Topped all above the fourth node not counting cotyledon of course.
Still chugging at 50% light, been very hot here.
Debating whether to put them into flower to sex or send them off to farmer freeman for sexing.
I have never revegged plants before so I’m weary of just putting them into flower to sex.
But I definitely want to keep 1 or 2 males for pollen cultivation as well as pollenating 1 or 2 of the nicer females for strain preservation.
We shall see 🤞

The results are back from farmer freeman…🥳🥃🍾
So out of the ten seeds germinate, 5 where male and 5 where female. 50/50 split.
I decided to keep 3 of the most vigorous males and discard the other 2. As soon as my main tent is cleared up, about 2 weeks or so, then the females will be placed in and veg for one week before going into flower.
*The plan is to try and reverse the best female and pollinate the second best female and flower the rest as normal. I will then take the 3 males and grow them out for a bit before flowering them and collecting the pollen. I want to try cross breeding the pollen from the Dotz with a purple runtz female. We shall see 🤞

These guys and gals are begging to be taken out of these solo cups.
I decided to make a tent dedicated to just malez. Just a lil 3x3 with a vipraspectra xs2000 and a lil rotating fan nothing fancy by any means. My plan is to transfer the males into 2 gallon containers veg for maybe a week then into flower.
As for the females, I’m just waiting for my main tent to clear out so I can run them. My plan is about the same as the males veg for a week or so then flower. Only difference is I’m gonna try to reverse 1 or 2 of the females. And Honestly I’m fine with them pollinating all the other girls. Venturing into uncharted waters for myself at least, so we shall see.🤞

Transplanted the males and placed them into their new tent.
Never grown males before, not sure if your suppose to top them like females or what. Most the males I’ve seen grown look like there weren’t really topped. But I figured more tops more pollen if this ain’t the case someone speak up…
So will rock and roll and veg them for a week or so let them get settle into there new containers. Then flower those bad boys and collect some pollen.
*I really like the structure and stature of plant #3. I gonna use this one for some crossing.🤞

Ok chugging along. Just waiting on the main tent to be finished before I transplant the remaining females. I did transplant the #9, which is the plant I chose to reverse. I chose her because I like the overall stature and vigor of the plant. Gonna be using colloidal silver at about 113 ppm. Plan to throw her as well as the other males into flower in a week.🤞

malez
Finally got everyone transplanted.
Just waiting for my main tent to finish and will put the ladies in. Should be about 6 or 7 days so not to long of a wait.
Plan to start flowering the males in 3 days.
Ok now we in business.👍👍
Got my lovely ladies moved to the main tent. Automatic feeder and drainage up and running, so tired of hand feeding and vacuuming.
Not sure how long I’m gonna veg before flowering, will play it by year. I’d definitely like to pollinate at least one with the reveres plant I got going, we shall see 🤞

Update…
The males have been harvested. Plenty of pollen for experimenting and keeping the genetics alive.
Not sure the best way to store the pollen. Right now I got it in small amber glass vials, which I plan to put in a container and then in the fridge.
IF ANYONE has a tried and true way to store and keep pollen viable, I’m all ears.
The female has definitely been converted to a male. I’m pretty proud of this since the breeder mentioned that the stardawg lineage is notorious hard to convert. Anyways hopefully I will get some viable pollen out of it. My plan is to keep spraying the silver for another day or two then let him do his thing. This is all new territory, but I heard to keep spraying to prevent the pollen from being sterile, until almost all the sites have developed male parts, I feel I’m close.🤞

Man time flies when ur busy.
Didnt mean to neglect this journal, gonna have to play a little catch up.
Thanks Keystone for the advise. I’m takin this whole experiment with a grain of salt.
But honestly so far so good.
Getting close to pollenating these girls gonna shoot for 3-3.5 weeks, should put me around the 21st-24th.🤞
Not sure if I’m gonna due all fem or use some of my regular pollen as well we shall see.

Its been a minute, but we’re finally at that point.
My Dotz females are 3.5 weeks into flower. So it’s time to pollinate these girls. I’m using pollen collect from the reverted female. Will see what happens. I applied a liberal amount to all the plants but the one on the left side closes in the pic. I did apply a bit to some of the branches touching the right side. We shall see🤞
