Grow Review: Mama mia by Seedsman
I've grown this strain several times. The link pertains to my Coco grow but I've also grown Mama Mia in organic super soil. Pretty easy to grow and train, very resilient. Resistant to pests and heat stress. Grown under hps didn't bring out some of the colors it can have. She grows well with a mainline or manifold form of training, but I've found she does best with more tops and a clean lower canopy. Can tolerate a higher ec then some without ill effects, but takes longer to fade and flush when running high ec. Pretty heavy feeder.
How Much Does Mama mia Stretch?
Stretch was moderate compared to some other indicas I've grown but she doesn't slow down for the first 3 weeks of flowering so managing the canopy along other plants is possible. I flipped around 15 inches and she grows to be 4 foot no problem indoors, though keeping her shorter is possible. Very vigorous stretching but didn't get out of control, very easy to train and manipulate. Explosive in the first 3 weeks, not including transition, then starts to fill out pretty wide. Support is often necessary even with big stalks and branches.
Harvesting Mama mia
She likes to take her time, I've found around 9-10 weeks is best for effects. My first harvest of her went the distance, I harvested a little earlier last harvest because I don't care for sedation with other strong effects I enjoy. The 10 week mark I saw around 10% amber, around 8-9 weeks she will look all cloudy though lower flowers seem to take up to 10 weeks. However effects were very nice with the shorter harvest time and lowers were still great with 90% cloudy. Super frosty but her colors stand out more with a longer harvest time and brings out her full potential. Don't be alarmed to see some foxtailing she does so naturally but heat does induce more.
Drying, Trimming and Curing Mama mia
All harvested product was wet trimmed and hung by branches. In the dry rooms we maintained around 68°f and 60% humidity. Taking up to 10-12 days for stem pop, I placed product in jars with the lids off for the first 24 hours. Burped 2-3 times daily maintaining a relatively high Rh for cured flower. After the first week in jars Rh was still a little high, buds were still moist to the touch. Each time I've had to remove the lid after the first week, making sure buds weren't sticking together because of moisture, lids were then left open for another 24 hours. Another week in we repeat the process, so two weeks was a good cure but it got better over time. I sampled at 2 weeks 3 weeks and 4 weeks, after that I didn't feel much different then the 4th week, but definitely worth waiting an extra 2 weeks.
The Flavor and Smell of Mama mia
Smell and flavors are very similar with hints of skunk and caramel. Very smooth tones of caramel come from exhale. Also edibles had a very pungent skunky flavor with an after taste of the caramel.
The Effects and Uses of Mama mia
Effects varied with harvest times. More amber trichomes were more sedating making it less possible to enjoy the other effects. Very potent regardless of harvest time and a couple puffs in you feel happy and creative. As the effects set in an overall blissful feeling of joy comes along. Super mellow at first, giving you the munchies, and relaxing the mind and body.
My Overall Impressions of Mama mia by Seedsman
Love this strain and I'm glad I have tried the freebies before purchasing. I would definitely recommend growers to try this strain and surely won't be disappointing to purchase. I've had a couple different phenos, but chemovar is the same. I'll be saving genetics when I grow the last few beans.
