Grow Review: Candy Store by Ethos genetics
In a 4 X 8 sq. ft area, I placed 24 plants in 4 gallon pots under 2 Gavita Pro 1700e LED's. The medium was Pro-Mix Bx, with some added perlite. Fertilizer was Botanicare Pure Blend Pro with 5ml of Cal/Mag added with each watering. pH was maintained at 6.3 throughout the entire grow. Green Planet's "Massive" was added at a 25% rate the last half of flowering. No co2 with this grow.
How Much Does Candy Store Stretch?
The stretch was minimal. They were flowered at 20-22 inches, and all the plants finished between 36-40 inches. The LED's do a good job of keeping the stretch to a minimum.
Harvesting Candy Store
The earlier pehno's were taken down at 8 weeks, the rest of the plants were chopped at 9 weeks. The trichome color was mostly cloudy, with 5% amber and no clear. Around 20% of the plants could have gone another 4-5 days maybe, but I needed the room for the next crop.
Drying, Trimming and Curing Candy Store
I trim everything wet, then do a final touch up when dry. I hang everything for 1 week, then place it in tupperware and burb the containers for 10 days to continue the drying process. A nice cure takes 2-3 weeks, and really brings out the flavors. Final yield was 96 oz, all bud, no larf.
The Flavor and Smell of Candy Store
Some pheno's have a cotton candy smell, others are berry like. The strain really shines in this category, and smokes smooth and tasty. It lingers in the mouth for a long while. It's called "Candy Store" for a reason, sweet and stinky.
The Effects and Uses of Candy Store
It's a 50/50 hybrid. It might lean a bit to either side, depending on the pheno though. The buzz lasts a few hours, and we've had trouble finishing a joint between 3 of us. It's not speedy or racey, not will it knock you down for a nap. It's a perfect blend for relaxing, playing music, watching TV, making love, etc.
My Overall Impressions of Candy Store by Ethos genetics
The bag appeal is excellent. It was well finished at 9 weeks and looks the part. Overall, much better than I expected. Very uniform in growth, not overly leafy, and easy to care for with no surprises. Friends reviews have been excellent.
