This week I did a little different feeding because it seemed like the buds weren't fattening up as much as they could. The recommended top dress amount is 1 tsp. per gallon of media for Bloom, 1 tsp. Bloom Booster, and 1 tsp. Microbe charge. So given the fact that I have a 7 gallon pot, I made a tea with 1 tbsp. Bloom, 2 tsp. Bloom Booster, and 2 tsp. Microbe Charge. Then I top dressed the remainder of that 1 tsp. per gallon which was 5 tsp. Bloom, 5 tsp. Bloom Booster, and 5 tsp. Microbe Charge and watered it in with the tea. Now that I'm writing this I realize that my math was off and I added 1 tsp. too much of the Bloom. The plant is looking healthy and happy although the color on the fan leaves closest to the tops are fading a little to a lighter green. This is another reason I thought maybe she's a little under-nourished. I'm still figuring this out and maybe the fade at this stage is normal and I'm just over-thinking it. What do you all think?
I was sick all last week and just couldn't bring myself to do an update. We're all good now, and I'm starting to se a little fade. I'm thinking about a week left.
So last night I was inspecting trichomes and flowers for potential signs of botrytis. I then noticed some bracts along the main stem within top colas and some at the bottoms of flowers. Here is a pic:
Because of this discovery, I decided to harvest before the problem gets any worse. I removed one of the questionable bracts a mature seed fell out. Then the same happened with all the bracts in question. Is it normal for the bract to mature to that color when it is housing a seed, or could it have been the start of botrytis. Since this is the first time I've attempted pollination, I don't have the experience to know. Here are the seeds that came from those bracts and I haven't busted into any of the flowers yet to see how many seeds I got in total.
Here are the last pictures taken.
The buds that were pollinated dried first, so I trimmed those up and harvested the seeds. It was 14 g of flower and I got 168 seeds.
This is by far the terpiest and densest ive grown yet. My wife describes the smell as "pinesol, astringent, cleaner" and i cant put my finger on it, but it triggers the thought of a tire shop with the racks of new tires ( Les Schwab if youre familiar). I'll be doing a final tally in the next couple of days.
I got everything all trimmed and jarred up. The drying conditions were 52-60% RH, 60-70° F, and took 10 days. I ended up with 90g of flower and 40g of super frosty trim. This plant surprised me in so many ways. I figured it would be high quality but I didn't think it would yield so much for such a small plant. These nugs are very dense, even the small lower buds. I'm guessing that this cultivar would be good for making hash because it dropped a lot of trichomes during trimming.
